Our 2024 Sustainability Report
2024 was our first year where we did not board a plane for business travel within the European Union. We set this goal in 2023, wanting to implement it the next year, and we are so proud to say that we were able to achieve it. One of the largest contributors to the Travel and Tourism Industry's carbon footprint is airline transport, making it incompatible with our values.
We love to travel and we think it’s important for everyone to have the chance to explore the world. By continuing to support airlines, when we can easily take the train, we contribute pointless carbon emissions, making the future of travel bleaker.
Our team members used public transport, electric cars, and train travel to participate in any business travel. Whether it was to meet our business partners, MAp Boutique Consultancy in Zurich, or heading to Berlin to work with our client, ITB Berlin, we made sure to take the train. This, of course, did not come without delays, rebookings, and reroutings, but in the end, we can say with 100% certainty, we would do it again.
We even took the train for our annual company retreat. This was an important experience which highlighted how train travel can be a difficult but necessary sacrifice. With an intent to head to Marseille for our retreat, two of our team members were rerouted due to floods in Germany and had to stay in Paris for a night. While it was certainly an obstacle, an unexpected trip to Paris turned into a fantastic adventure and a great story to tell by the time they arrived in Marseille.
“Every kilometer of track, every long-haul train ride, brought a sense of purpose. We slowed down, connected more deeply, and remembered why we made this commitment in the first place,” says Natascha, our founder. And it’s true, by traveling slowly we experienced more, found ourselves in exciting adventures, and truly felt like our small difference went a long way – especially for our company.
Our 2024 Sustainability Report is a stark reminder of our purpose on this planet. We want to make a difference, no matter how small, and contribute to making our Earth a better place. We hope that it inspires you to make a difference too. Every action matters.
For Planet
We make sure that we track and offset all of our carbon, holding ourselves responsible for the resources we use, so we can give back to our Earth and ensure that we are not overconsuming. From our no-fly policy, to our use of digital business cards, we are taking steps to ensure that our actions align with our values.
Highlight: New Office: Shared Space, Shared Values
In October 2024, we decided to make the move into a permanent office space in Munich. What makes our new office so special is that we share it with sustainable fashion brand, Hacoy. Since we are a small company, we realized that by sharing our office space, we could conserve energy, reduce our emissions, and spread creative ideas. With our combined values and love for all things sustainable, we have not only been able to share thoughts and conversations, but we’ve been able to share resources, which has reduced our impact.
For People
People are at the heart of our business, from our team members, to our clients, to our partners, we would be unable to do what we do without people. One of our most important goals with our new office space was that we wanted to embed ourselves in our local community. We wanted to contribute to our neighborhood, while continuing to uplift, build, and grow with our fellow residents. With our team members located around Europe, we also had our eye on the international community and how we can contribute as global citizens.
Highlight: Our Volunteering Program
2024 marked the kick-off of our volunteering program, where our team was able to experience the impact that our support and funding created. Our colleagues headed to Cape Town, South Africa where they visited the Goal50 ECD Centre, a school which we have supported since its foundation.
We were able to learn about the high-quality education the school will provide once its doors open in late 2025, and explore the unique structure made out of recycled tires, bottles, and other materials. The highlight of the trip was being able to meet with the construction manager of the project, where our team learned about the process of the build. Afterwards, they headed to Ulwazi Educare, a previous school construction project that we helped fund, to experience the vibrant and thriving community for themselves.
For Profit
Every business needs to make a profit, but we want to make ours sustainably and ethically. This means that we ensure all of our clients align with our values, while helping them shape their own sustainable journeys and stories. From lasting partnerships to creative projects, we make sure that all profit is made with a purpose.
Highlight: Our Partnerships
We love fostering connections with sustainable brands that share our values and this is reflected in our partnerships. The partnerships we have with Lemongrass Marketing and MaPeople are indispensable to us. From sharing ideas, to sparking creativity, to building relationships, our partnerships are essential to helping deliver our message, our purpose, and to achieving our goals. Through collaboration, we are able to tackle important projects while shaping the world into a better place together.
Our partnership with Lemongrass Marketing, a B corp PR firm that promotes sustainability in all of their work, was fantastic. They are an agency that does exactly what we do, so working together was a complete dream. We both focus on sustainable travel and tourism, with similar values, ensuring that our synergy was perfect. Together, we collaborated on a client, the sustainable tour operator, TravelLocal.
We cherish our ongoing partnership with MAp Boutique Consultancy. We share a few sustainable hotel clients where together, we organize a holistic approach to communication. We are currently collaborating on the second version of The Sustainable Hotel Handbook: Communication which will align with EU greenwashing regulations. The updated handbook is due to launch this year.
Looking Ahead to 2025 and Beyond… (h2)
We are very proud of the work we have done this year. From our no-fly policy, to our volunteering days, to our ongoing partnerships, we work hard to promote sustainability both verbally and through our actions.
We know that as a small agency, the future sustainable initiatives we want to implement are almost within reach. For 2025 we want to focus on:
Maintaining our no-fly policy for EU business travel
Comply with the new EU accessibility standards while ensuring our clients can do the same.
Provide a fully paid volunteering day for all team members
And so much more. Here’s to another year of doing good!
